Proposed new Ahadi home : Watch out this space new Ahadi Family Kenya home: the basics the reason: Ahadi is currently renting a facility located far from most of the boys’ schools. The new facility will be wholly owned, permanent, more functional and better-located than the current home. the site: The home will be built on a windswept hillside, 2.2 km off of Mombassa Road. Just half of the two-acre parcel will be used for this project which includes housing, office, garden and playing field, saving the other half for possible income-generating projects or other future development. The new homesite is in a semi-rural environment, close to primary and secondary day schools, and surrounded by farmland and other residences which will enable the boys to feel part of a community. The daily burden of transporting boys to school by van will be mitigated by moving to this location. architectural intent: The new Ahadi facility is designed to look and feel like ‘home’ for the benefit of boys who come from dire circumstances and may have never experienced the safety and community of a family. Sleeping rooms for primary school boys will be in the second storey of the primary house, where dining and study take place, and where the household supervisor resides. Housing for secondary school boys is in a separate house, integrated into but independent from the primary house. Windows and outdoor terraces on the north side take advantage of scenic views toward the north. Renewable energy sources such as wind power and solar power are being investigated as possible ways to reduce or eliminate energy costs over the long term. Every effort has been made to build efficiently while maintaining quality so that generations of boys will be blessed by this home. You can help! Contact Phyllis Masso, phone 254 733713484, or email
